We are excited to be recruiting for a Preconstruction Lead on behalf of a highly respected construction firm based ijust west of Boston. Position Overview: Preconstruction Lead

This role offers the opportunity to work on unique and exciting U.S. Federal Government construction projects, supporting the organization’s longstanding commitment to client satisfaction and project excellence. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in preconstruction efforts, ensuring projects are meticulously planned and executed.


Responsibilities

  • Review Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage internal RFP distribution and create comprehensive Project Information documents.
  • Oversee scope of work assignments and manage subcontractor/vendor solicitation processes.
  • Coordinate pre-bid site visits and liaise with subcontract design partners for Design-Build solicitations.
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor/vendor proposals to ensure accuracy in scope, schedule, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduler to develop project schedules and ensure adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Prepare and present price proposal documents for management review and approval.
  • Lead the turnover process for awarded projects to the Operations Team, including assisting in procurement and cost code development.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve common goals.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and the ability to identify potential issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), On-Screen Takeoff, and Sage Estimating (Timberline).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years in the construction industry, with a focus on estimating.
  • Proven track record of longevity at prior roles (minimum 3 years at the same company).
  • Experience leading project estimates and proposals.
  • Background in fixed price, Design-Build, self-perform estimating, or government project estimating is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff is highly desirable.
