Job Summary:
Seeking a dynamic, organized, and creative logistics (operations) coordinator, to manage carrier negotiations, improve profitability and efficiency, and optimize transit issues. You will be coordinating shipments and dispatch drivers, ensuring smooth pickups and deliveries. You will also build strong relationships through an effective carrier program, targeting new carriers, maintaining databases, and leveraging technology to streamline operations and support sales growth.
Operations Coordinator Responsibilities
Operations Coordinators perform a variety of resource management and strategic planning tasks. Their responsibilities include:
- Negotiate with carriers to optimize profitability and efficiency by identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Schedule and coordinate truck shipments, resolving any issues during transit.
- Review and correct carrier freight invoices and BOLs to ensure accuracy for payment.
- Dispatch drivers, ensuring timely pickups without issues.
- Develop and maintain a Carrier Program to support sales growth, efficient onboarding, and improve pricing and rating competencies across regions and freight types.
- Conduct daily sourcing activities, including negotiating rates and selecting efficient carriers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with core carriers through regular profiling (60-80 calls/day).
- Maintain up-to-date carrier database with current pricing and contact information.
- Utilize TMS and applications to streamline capacity planning, trip processing, and workflow management.
- Collaborating with management and executives to set departmental and organization-wide goals
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in the transportation/logistics industry, and/or related fields.
- A genuine passion for sales and logistics - must be a self-starter, self directed, and highly motivated;
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines;
- Excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and data entry systems);
- Ability to positively influence culture and behavior and work effectively with all levels within the company;
